Justine Youl is the founder of SiteSherpa, an Australian workplace safety and compliance technology company. She brings more than 20 years of frontline experience in mining and construction, starting as a heavy machinery operator before moving into workplace health and safety leadership and consulting. To build SiteSherpa, Justine sold her possessions and moved from Australia to Bali with her three children and limited savings, taught herself to code using YouTube, and built the platform's first product from there before AI tools were in widespread use.
SiteSherpa is a WHS compliance platform and consultancy serving high-risk industries including mining, construction and civil infrastructure. It offers incident reporting, hazard tracking, risk assessments, audits, contractor management and WHS training, alongside an AI-powered safety app with a voice- and video-native approach to reporting. Justine explains that she built it because, as a WHS consultant, she could not find software that worked for the businesses she was helping. Everything was too complex, too expensive, or built for enterprise companies with dedicated safety teams.
Justine is also a regular speaker at WHS industry events and the founder and host of MENTAL Street Talk, a mental-health conversation series. Her perspective across safety technology and mental-health advocacy focuses on making practical tools and support accessible to the people who need them most.
