Mitchell Bateman

Mitchell Bateman, known publicly as Mitch, is the co-founder of Stagger Inn Adventures, a 4WD adventure road-trip tour company operating across Australia's Northern Territory and Western Australia. The business ran guided trips between Darwin, Broome and Perth, with Mitch and his partner Renee Talotta, known as Shakas, acting as the guides. Renee co-built the company with him and is the founder of The Culo Village. The pair sold Stagger Inn Adventures in 2022.

Mitch grew up in Darwin and has travelled the world, including around Australia multiple times. He and Shakas describe the venture as having taken shape after years of van life, when they worked and lived on the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley. Before starting the business, they quit their jobs and road-tripped around the country in their Toyota HiAce van, which they named Jill.

That grounding in long-distance travel and remote-country living shaped the kind of trips Stagger Inn Adventures became known for. Today Mitch continues to travel Australia with Shakas and their children.

Shakas is the founder of The Culo Village, Culo Creatives in Canva, Pretty Cool Marketing and Billow Beach and states she could not of been a successful business women without the constant love and support from partner of 10 years Mitch.
