Monika Kulshrestha is the founder of Deals Colony, a purpose-driven social enterprise based in the Moreton Bay and Brisbane area of Queensland, Australia. She founded the business in May 2014. Monika describes herself as having more than 20 years of experience across engineering, technology, data, business transformation and community sectors, and is described as a seasoned engineer, entrepreneur and innovation leader.
Much of Monika's work centres on the circular economy. She writes the circular economy blog content and case studies published on the Deals Colony website, and the enterprise operates the Australia Circular Innovation Network, with a stated goal of building 10,000 community innovation case studies before the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. Deals Colony also runs Happy Hobby Hour Junior, a youth program Monika co-created with her son, aimed at turning screen time into skill time for children.
Monika's central belief, as she frames it, is that the world's greatest waste is not products but untapped human potential. She was a featured speaker at the January 2025 Thrivability Matters Webinar run by the THRIVE Project, presenting on Thrivability in a Digital Age for Young Children, and has facilitated a CCIQ Pine Rivers Chamber of Commerce Lunch & Learn event on mental health awareness in the workplace, representing Deals Colony.
