Dr Shalini Sharma is the founder and director of Krÿstähl, an ESG services organisation, and the founder of the Global Institute for Circular Economy and Sustainable Development Goals. Born in Lucknow, India, she holds a Ph.D. in environment management and policy, and began her career at the National Botanical Research Institute before serving as Head of the Centre for Climate Change at the Engineering Staff College in Hyderabad. She is also co-founder and CEO of Sanshodhan: An E-Waste Exchange, a Hyderabad-based startup launched in February 2018 whose 'Re-Circulate' circular economy model for the e-waste sector was Highly Commended by the World Economic Forum in The Circulars 2019, and which received the Swachh Bharat Grand Challenge Award 2018 from the Government of India.

Now based in Australia, Shalini serves as Director of Krystahl (Australia) and as Global Sustainability Reporting Lead at Harvey Norman. Through Krÿstähl she developed GreenX™®, an eco-leadership certification standard aimed at the film, media, fashion and hospitality sectors.

Shalini believes sustainable finance, ESG and certification for under-discussed domains such as film, fashion and hotels matter because they address global challenges and benefit environment, society and economy. She argues that durable products, CSR interventions and responsible consumption can help reduce e-waste, and that companies should treat e-waste management as a CSR priority.
