Trudy Henley is the founder and artist behind Trudy Letters, a hand lettering and Christian art business based in Brisbane, Queensland. On the My Story page of her website, she sets out how the business began from something personal rather than commercial.

Trudy started lettering in early 2016, after the birth of her firstborn daughter, when she was looking for Scripture to hang in her home. What began as a way to bring meaningful words into her own space quickly grew into something more. After discovering she loved lettering, Trudy received requests from others to create art for them, and those requests became the foundation of the business.

Trudy describes herself as a hand lettering artist and painter who is passionate about the power of words. She believes that the words people hear, see and have spoken into them shape who they are. That conviction runs through the work she produces, which she describes as inspiring hand lettered pieces for homes, gifts and events, created as original work by an Australian artist.

The personal context sits close to the surface of her story. Trudy describes herself as blessed with a husband and three children, and the arrival of her first daughter was the moment that set the creative work in motion. Today Trudy Letters offers art prints, devotional card packs, affirmation cards, greeting cards, custom art prints and calendars, with prints priced from around AUD $24.95.

What the My Story page captures is a straightforward progression from a home project to a working studio. For Trudy, the opportunity is to keep putting carefully lettered words into the spaces where people live, work and gather, building on the belief that first led her to pick up a pen.
