There's one thing about live streaming I keep coming back to. In a single session you can end up talking to someone on the other side of the world and someone who lives a few streets over from you, both at the same time. Not many formats do that while it's actually happening.

I've spent more than 15 years making content, and most of that time the media was a fragment. You film something, you post it, and if you're lucky it travels. A good clip can reach people far beyond where it was made. But it reaches them later, on its own schedule, once the platform decides to move it around. Live is different. People choose to be there in the moment, and you can talk back.

That matters more than it sounds when you're building a small Australian brand. Billow Beach is a physical product I designed here, so on paper you'd think the whole point is reaching as many people as far away as possible. And live streaming does open that door. But the part I didn't expect to value as much is the local reach. The person watching who actually lives near you, who might already know the beach you're standing on. Distance and proximity showing up in the same window.

So I don't think of a live stream as just a bigger megaphone. It's one of the few places where reaching the whole world and reaching your own street stop being two different jobs. For a founder, that's worth paying attention to.
